Before Church

These are some pictures we took just before church today. Katie got her haircut yesterday and so I thought I would share her shorter look.

First Day of School 2009

David started first grade today at Maxwell AFB Elementary. He really enjoyed his first day and said he can't wait to go back. Nathan and I are impressed with his teacher and think it will be a great year for him.

We're Back... Sorry it took so long

Well, I have been meaning to update this blog for a long time and put more pictures of Korea, but I think now is the time to move on and just start with what is going on now. We arrived in Alabama last Sunday after an awesome trip to Hawaii and fun visiting family and friends in Texas. We got our home last Monday, all our household goods on Tuesday and then have been busy unpacking and stimulating the economy as we get our house back in order. We really like Montgomery. We have met some wonderful folks and have even found a new church home. We joined First Baptist Montgomery and have felt right at home.

We have enjoyed our vacation time together, but now it is back to reality. Nathan inprocessed today and will be starting ACSC. It was a bit different seeing him in uniform again since we have been bums for the last month. David is excited to start school this Friday. Katie would love to be in school as well, but has one more year of "mommy school."

Sarah Anne hasn't made her debut yet, but it is only a matter of time. We have met the midwife who will deliver her, registered at the hospital and have our bags packed. We can't wait to meet her. As soon as she arrives, we will post some pictures and let everyone know.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers as we were traveling and moving in. We miss all our friends we have left behind, but are excited to see what lies ahead.

Take care and keep in touch!

Here are some pics from our Hawaii trip... it was so relaxing and we all had such a wonderful time!
Some from the beach outside our hotel:
Dole Pineapple Plantation maze:
Our Princess Leia (we really think it was more like Shrek, but she said she was Princess Leia):

If you can't tell, we really enjoyed Hawaii!!

These pictures are from the Luau we went to. We had a great time and the kids even enjoyed eating the pork after seeing the "piggy" come up out of the ground.

Huh?

I'm sure this is supposed to mean something very profound, but I think something got lost in the translation. This happens quite often in Korea.

T-Ball

David is now on the White Sox T-ball team. He really enjoys the game, but I think the fact that Dad is one of the coaches is the part he likes the most.

It's a...

GIRL!!

We had our big ultrasound today and found out we are having another little girl. Katie and David got to be there for the ultrasound and see their new little sister wiggling around in mommy's tummy. When the radiologist said it was a girl, Katie kept repeating (getting louder and louder at the same time), "I told you it was a girl!" Needless to say, she was excited. David said he didn't care if it was a boy or girl and that all he wanted was a healthy baby. We couldn't agree more. Everything seems to be going well and our little girl is growing fast. These are a few pictures we got today.

5K run

Today we participated in a 5K. David rode his bike, Dad pushed Katie in the jogging stroller and Mom ran with baby in belly. David won a $10 AAFES gift card at the end. He was so happy and we were so proud at how well he did... he could have kept going and probably done a 10K.

Soldiers

Here are our little soldiers... So cute!!

"Disney" Park

This is a park that is just outside of one of the base gates and is on the way to E-Mart (sort of like Korean Wal-Mart). After visiting the aquarium at the 63 building, we decided to eat a picnic lunch here. The kids call it the "Disney" park I think because of all the colors and how different it is. The ball the kids are standing under actually has little holes in it so it looks like you are looking at stars when you go into it. The kids enjoy it here.

63 Building

There is a building here in Korea called the 63 Building that the kids and I went to today. Amazingly, it's called 63 Building because it has 63 floors. I guess the marketing/naming staff had an offsite the day the building was named and by the time they got back, the press release had already been fired off.

Anyway, there's a aquarium in the building we had heard about and decided to visit the place. It's not Sea World or the Texas State Aquarium, but it was another neat little trip in Seoul with the kids.

Monkeying around

Today after dinner dad and the kiddos decided it was time to have some fun. I just had to share these silly photos. We had some good laughs!

Another Missing Tooth

David's top tooth has been loose for quite some time and was definitely ready to come out, but he just wouldn't pull it. So, we were at Baskin Robins today and Dad made a deal with him... He would give him a dollar to pull it, but if it hurt, he would stop and David would still get the dollar. David said OK and so Dad prepared to pull it. I just couldn't watch (I don't know why). As soon as I heard David start to wimper, I also heard a pop and the tooth was out. So, now he has a big toothless grin!

Katie's 4th Birthday Party

Katie had a great birthday. David woke her up, and handed her his present to her... a lightsaber so that they can now duel. Katie wanted a green one so she could be Asohka from Star Wars the Clone Wars. That evening when Daddy got home, she got to open up more presents. Then, the next day we invited her friends over to have cake and ice cream, play on the playground, play pin the tail on Swiper and then hit a Dora pinata. The pinata was pretty hilarious seeing as after only a few kids hit the pinata, Dora was decapitated-- lucky no one got upset and we turned her body over to let the kids scramble to collect candy. It is just too bad that we didn't get an pictures of that. All the kids had a great time and Katie was so excited that it was finally her birthday and she got to be the center of attention.
