Korean Children's Museum

We visited the children's museum at the National Museum of Korea. Even though most of it was in Korean, the kids still enjoyed it. They even ended up playing in the kitchen area with a class of Korean kids. It is free to visit until the end of the year so I am sure we will go back.

Pumpkins

We had fun decorating pumpkins this year. We did sort of a lightbright bat pumpkin and the kids painted theirs. Katie painted a purple pumpkin and David painted a Star Wars scene with a lightsaber fight. The picture with them hiding behind their pumpkins was David's idea and it actually came out cute.

Fire Station Visit

David's class went across the street from the elementary school to visit the Yongsan Fire Station for Fire Safety week. Katie and mom tagged along and got some cute pictures. They now regularly pretend being firefighters putting out fires or people on fire doing "stop, drop and roll."

Korean Palace

This palace is called Gyeongbok Palace. To give a little history... It was the main and largest palace of the Joseon Dynasty and one of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty. It was really an interesting place to visit. We got there just in time for the changing of the palace guards (second picture). The kids got in on the action and tried on the guard's hats. Next is a picture of the king's throne. Then, just before we left we asked David to take a picture of us since our pictures are usually of the kiddos and he took a really good picture of us in between the king's living quarters and the queen's living quarters. There are more pics of this trip on the next post since there wasn't enough room on this one for all the pictures.

Korean Palace (Take 2)

Here are some more picture of us at the palace. David and Katie are the cutest Korean palace guards we have ever seen. :-)
The last two pictures are of us at the subway waiting for our train to arrive to take us to the palace. The subway is the best way to get around Seoul. It is easy and costs less than a buck round trip to anywhere in Seoul. We don't really drive off base since a short trip could end up taking an hour or more because of traffic. Also, I couldn't imagine getting into a traffic accident and having to deal with all the legal issues as well as the language barrier. So, we either walk or take the subway.
